Blink-182 play first show with Matt Skiba

Blink-182 hit the stage this past Wednesday (March 18th) at The Roxy in West Hollywood for their first live performance without estranged frontman/guitarist Tom Delonge. Filling in for Delonge was guitarist Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio. Skiba was originally only supposed to appear with bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker for a one-off performance at the Musink Music and Tattoo Festival in Costa Mesa this weekend.

Although it is difficult to judge from a YouTube clip, Skiba sounds to be right at home with the band, as they perform the Blink hits “Feeling This”, “What’s My Age Again?”, “The Rock Show”, and “Up All Night” in the 12-minute fan shot video below.

Judging from the comments, the reaction to Skiba’s performance seems to be overwhelmingly positive, so it will be interesting see what the future holds for the band beyond this Sunday’s Musink performance. Meanwhile, Tom Delonge has announced plans to release three more solo albums this year after next month’s release of To The Stars … Demos, Odds and Ends.
